Equality Act 2010

This new act brings together and re-states the existing discrimination legislation concerning race, sex, disability, sexual orientation, religion or belief and age and seeks to adopt a single approach where appropriate. It also makes a number of important changes to the law, which are likely to have a significant impact on employers’ processes and procedures, e.g. the prohibition of pre-employment health enquiries, unless made for prescribed reasons. It also introduces changes to disability discrimination, including the obligation to make reasonable adjustments.
